What else changed that year

  • Beyond the parks

Magic Key replaced the annual pass program

Disneyland ended its decades-old annual pass program and replaced it with tiered Magic Key passes, which use reservations and are periodically unavailable for new sales.

  • Disney California Adventure

    Avengers Campus opened

A bug's land closed in 2018 and was replaced by Avengers Campus, Disneyland Resort's first Marvel land.

  • Beyond the parks

Disney Genie+ replaced FASTPASS and MaxPass

Free line-skipping at Disneyland ended: Genie+ now costs $25–35+ per person per day, and Rise of the Resistance and Radiator Springs Racers are sold separately.

  • Disney California Adventure

WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure opened

The anchor ride of Avengers Campus uses gesture recognition so riders fire webs with no blasters or 3D glasses.
